150 swimmers will be able to swim 8 miles and raise funds for one of the 4 main charities.
The funds raised by the 4 mile and 1 mile swimmers will be equally split between the 10 invitational charities.
EVENT DETAILS
CHOOSE TO SWIM 8 MILES, 4 MILES OR 1 MILE
8 MILE EVENT
- Swim 4 miles on Day 1 (Saturday 15th June) and 4 miles on Day 2 (Sunday 16th June). Monday 17th June is a contingency day if conditions are poor on either 15th or 16th.
- Each mile will start every 75 minutes from 07h30
- Entry fee – R1 000 (includes exclusive Oceans 8 costume, shirt, tog bag, cap and medal.)
- Minimum of R5 000 to be raised for your main charity of choice by Wednesday 12th June (see Charities Page for details). Prize awarded to the top fundraiser in each charity.
- Limited to 35 swimmers per charity.
- All swimmers must have completed at least one official sea swim prior to the event.
- Wetsuits are permitted (2 minute time penalty per mile applies).
1 MILE EVENT
- Choose one of the 4 events on Day 1 (Saturday 15th June) or Day 2 (Sunday 16th June). Monday 17th June is a contingency day if conditions are poor on either 15th or 16th.
- Entry fee – R150 (includes cap and medal)
- Minimum of R850 to be raised for the 10 invitational charities (see Charities Page on website for details) by Wed 12th June.
- All funds raised by 1 Mile swimmers will be split equally between the 10 invitational charities. Prizes awarded to the top fundraisers.
- Swimmers only need to enter their age-category event if they are competing for their age-group medal. Non-competitive swimmers are welcome to choose any of the events to participate in.
- Limited to 50 swimmers per event.
- Wetsuits are permitted (2 minute time penalty per mile applies).

- Limited to 20 swimmers.
- Wetsuits are permitted (2 minute time penalty per mile applies).

WHY OCEANS8
Oceans 8 Charity Swim was created by a group of non profit organisations to help to provide charities that have a footprint in KwaZulu-Natal with a sustainable source of income. It is a registered Non Profit Company and is audited annually.

Full clubhouse with bathroom and catering facilities.
